President's Message - Spring 2021

Hello to everyone on this great round planet we call Earth. And to my flat earther friends and conspiracy theorists who still believe no humans have walked on the moon: Guess what? We are now on Mars! No humans mind you, but the United States have a vehicle (Mars rover) up there taking pictures and collecting samples from beneath the surface.  By 2031 they are planning to send a manned (or womanned) spacecraft to Mars. 

I am happy to say that although COVID-19 is still very much around,  it's  looking more positive lately than ever! In the near future COVID will be mostly behind us. Then people can be happy living life as normally as they did prior to this pandemic.  Last count there are four vaccines to choose from. I had my shot in the arm and I encourage everyone else, when your time comes around, to get yours too.

On the ongoing Dragland Family reunion plans, talks have kind of stalled out (COVID again) but 2021 is looking a whole lot better than 2020 was, so I am hopeful that the DFA Board of Directors can start discussing a possible reunion for late 2021 or in 2022. It's a tall task to get everyone on the same page as to a date and location to gather, but it's not our first rodeo organizing a reunion, so I am confident we can do it again...

At this time we have six Board members:

Here are some details on our various DFA membership levels:

1. Associate Member

            • Free
            • Eligible to receive family newsletter
            • May have name/phone number/email address
               published on directory (if desired)
            • May submit stories and photos for the website
            • Receives invitation to family reunions and other events
            • Eligible for password to detailed (confidential) family tree

2. Regular Member

            • Dues are $30 per year (payable on your birthday)
            • Includes all benefits of Associate Member, plus:
            • Eligible for dragland.org email address

3. Gold Member

            • Dues are $100 per year (payable on your birthday)
            • Includes all benefits of Regular Member, plus:
            • Entitled to a free "guest" account at Ancestry.ca
            • Eligible to receive annual financial statements
            • Eligible to serve on planning committees
            • Eligible for a seat on the DFA Board of Directors
